Greater Lumberton Business Association Formed
Business association formed to bring positive gains and economic viability to Lumberton business community
Lumberton, NJ (PRWEB) April 8, 2005 -- The Greater Lumberton Business Association (GLBA) was officially launched by area business owners and its new Board of Directors this week. The Greater Lumberton Business Association (GLBA) will be charged with providing information to new businesses and promoting the further development of Lumberton business opportunities.
Barry Lefkowitz, President of Management and Government Resources, Inc. was named President of the newly formed organization. Mr. Lefkowitz will facilitate and coordinate programs designed to provide information, networking, and guidance to existing, as well as aspiring business owners in Lumberton, NJ. The GLBA has been formed to create an enhanced business climate in Lumberton Township, NJ," said Mr. Lefkowitz. We will work to promote commercial development in the greater Lumberton business community, work with the townships Economic Development Committee, and network or cross-refer businesses amongst GLBA members."
The Greater Lumberton Business Association will gladly be accepting memberships from businesses in and adjoined to Lumberton: Businesses in Hainesport, Mount Laurel, Medford, Mount Holly, Eastampton, Southampton, and Westampton. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month and will be hosted by a GLBA member. Card exchanges will take place and discounts will be provided on a member-to-member basis.
The association was formed to share information and knowledge, create a community of business owners and business managers, and conduct productive monthly meetings, according to Melissa Lovitch, President, Catch Advertising and GLBA Board Member.
"We formed this business association in the hopes that a coordinated effort will result in positive gains for all Lumberton businesses. We are going to be an organization which represents and speaks for business owners, but cares about and considers the needs of the community." said Lou Trefz, Owner/Photographer, The Cameraworks and GLBA Vice President.
"We found that many businesses within the area faced similar challenges when getting started, 'How do I start a business in lumberton? How do I attract more of my customers? We got the idea that it's time for an organized group to address these timely issues and to exchange ideas, " Jamie Morlock, Manager Ark Road Storage and GLBA Recording Secretary.
According to Pat Delany, Lumberton Township Committeeman and Government Liason to the GLBA, "Lumberton has a growing business community that many people are not aware of. The formation and the success of the Greater Lumberton Business Association will do a lot to help Lumberton's business community grow." Delany added, "The township committee is going to provide the support we need to make this happen because it will be a great benefit to Lumberton residents."
Jim Filler, proprietor of Dadz Bar & Grill in Lumberton and GLBA Board Member and others also shared their opinion of the organization. I am proud to be part of the creation of a group of interested business owners that wish to promote economic viability within our community. The potential benefits to Lumberton and the neighboring regions are "huge". If you share our groups goals, you're invited to join," said Filler.
We are looking for business owners and business managers who are eager to create a positive atmosphere for their business to grow and thrive in Lumberton and the surrounding area. The Greater Lumberton Business Association has established a set of general goals and specific objectives that will encourage pro-active changes. We are confident that the Association will be beneficial to all involved." Said Kathy Pfeiffer, Postmaster of Lumberton and GLBA Vice President.
I have become a Member and Board of Director for the GLBA to proudly extend our business services within the community. It gives me the opportunity to appreciate our existing customers, introduce ourselves to newcomers within the town, as well as familiarize our services to the surrounding towns. Located on Main St. Lumberton for over 13 years it is a pleasure to participate and encourage the networking of businesses within the community and surrounding area," Kerry Morton, Co-Owner, Mark Allen Auto Repair, and GLBA Board Member.
The Greater Lumberton Business Association will be a great asset to both the community residents and local businesses. As a resident of Lumberton and a local business owner, I feel there is need to bring the community and businesses together. I find it disappointing when I see a company like mine providing their service to my community and I wonder, were we given the opportunity to provide a quote? I want my community to know I am here for them and appreciate their business. As a resident, I may be unaware of some local businesses due to the limits they may have to advertise. The Greater Lumberton Business Association is an excellent opportunity to inform residents about their local businesses, provide business to business networking, and community awareness will keep the revenue local which ultimately will benefit everyone, Becky Kasper, President, American Disposal Systems, and GLBA Treasurer.
The inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors was held on Tuesday April 5, 2005 at the Lumberton Township Community Room. Guest speaker Martin Saltzman, past President of Howell Township Chamber of Commerce and COO of AFM Investments, spoke to the group about the intricacies of building a strong business association, fundraising, and several possible issues and accomplishments the group could experience as it progresses. I see a lot of the infancy that was there in my township 10-to-15 years ago here now in Lumberton Township," said Saltzman "I think that with a president like Barry Lefkowitz at GLBAs forefront this organization can thrive just as Howell Townships business district did with his talents. Barry, and his company MGR Inc., was successful in generating over $200 million dollars in new ratables."
The next meeting of The Greater Lumberton Business Association will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 4:30pm at the Air Victory Museum, 68 Stacy Haines Road. Refreshments will be served.
