New Feature-Loaded Adventure Shield Pants and Jackets Provide Tried-and-True Protection Against Mosquitoes and Other Biting Bugs

Tiger Mountain Gear's Adventure Shield pants, jackets and mosquito repellant undergo extreme field tests...in the mosquito-infested Alaskan tundra before they come to market. Unique features such as a 4-way hood zipper, boot gators and bug-protected side venting are proven winners for people who love outdoor adventures from hiking and backpacking to fishing, photography, and traveling.

Issaquah, WA (PRWEB) April 11, 2005 -- With summer fast approaching and reports of West Nile Virus looming on the horizon, wearing the right type of protective clothing while hiking, on vacation, or pursuing adventure is critical to both ones health and to creating a memorable experience. Ideally, the clothing needs to have been tested in the worst possible conditions to make sure it is guaranteed to perform in all adverse situations. Thats exactly how Tiger Mountain Gears feature-loaded Adventure Shield jackets and pants have been developed.

Before Tiger Mountain Gears products reach the market, they undergo a final extreme field test...in the mosquito-infested Alaskan tundra. Thats where the companys Adventure Shield jackets and pants prove themselves with unique features like the jackets 4-way hood zipper that provides unlimited adjustment so you can eat or use binoculars, cameras and scopes with ease while also providing sun protection and cool venting. Or the pants unique built in boot gators" that seal the bottom to keep biting bugs from crawling up your legs, yet allow you to put on and remove them without taking off your boots. The bug-protected side venting in the pants allow you to unzip the side vents for cooling without being bitten.

Part of the reason Adventure Shields clothing works is because its co-founder, Chris Smith, has spent his entire life exploring the outdoors. Hes canoed and fished wilderness waters from Washington to Minnesota and hiked the jungles of the Yucatan peninsula to the tundra of Alaska. Smith and his partner, Elsie Smith, knew it was time to start Tiger Mountain Gear when their backpacks became filled with outdoor gear product sketches, pieces of material, scissors, thread and experimental natural insect repellent in their attempts to solve some of the annoying problems they experienced on their adventures.

As avid hikers," says Smith, we wanted to provide no-holds-barred solutions for the outdoor problems we kept experiencing. When West Nile Virus started creating fears among outdoors people -- people just trying to enjoy a simple evening walk - we decided that dealing with biting insects would be our first challenge."

To get started, Smith immersed himself in the study of mosquitoes. He also created a lengthy list of product must haves" which included finding a breathable and cool high tech-micro fiber impermeable to mosquitoes. He spent the next two years testing over 600 fabrics and perfecting and manufacturing designs to meet these specifications. The jacket and pants reached the market only after they achieved the right balance of protection, practicality, performance and aesthetic appeal...and then only after the clothing was tested in the Alaska Tundra, in some of the largest concentrations of mosquitoes in the world. Meanwhile, a host of design volunteers provided constant feedback as the design evolved.

I can say with confidence that Adventure Shield jackets and pants are truly one-of-a-kind clothing," says Smith. Not only do they provide optimal protection from mosquitoes and other biting bugs, but they look good too, so you can wear them around the campsite or even around town."
