Herndon, VA. -- April 11, 2005 -- GigaTrust, a leading provider of content protection solutions based on Microsoft Windows® Rights Management Services (RMS) technology, today announced an enterprise web server solution to dynamically protect database content using RMS. The National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) has contracted to use this solution to protect their online testing environment which supports over 170 standardized technical tests to assess and certify working professionals in a wide variety of disciplines.

GigaTrusts web server solution improves content protection options available to businesses which deliver sensitive content to browsers. Access control and encryption techniques protect information inside web applications, but the addition of rights management allows web administrators to attach specific information policies directly to content. These policies travel with the content and prevent users from forwarding, copying, or printing sensitive content after delivery.

NOCTI developed online testing as an efficient alternative to its paper-based testing process. Online testing overcomes the complexities of paper test delivery and collection, but creates a new set of challenges around security and intellectual property protection. Using a rights management solution from GigaTrust, NOCTI was able to overcome these concerns.

The GigaTrust solution was installed at NOCTI to protect test questions and data residing in a Microsoft SQL Server database that are delivered to testing terminals using Microsoft .NET services. Before installing GigaTrust, NOCTI used standard encryption and password authentication to prevent information from being intercepted while in transit to the test takers terminal. The GigaTrust Enterprise Web Server solution provides the same level of point-to-point protection, plus the ability to prevent a test taker from copying and distributing the information to competing testing agencies or future test takers.

"GigaTrust's enterprise web solution prevents unauthorized copying of test materials," said Sean Davis, Director of Technology at NOCTI. "GigaTrust provided a way to mitigate cheating and protect our intellectual property."

NOCTI plans to include the GigaTrust solution as a standard part of their online testing experience. To assist in this effort, GigaTrust implemented changes to minimize the delay associated with the encryption, decryption, and key retrieval process. The tests are timed, so NOCTI required that the GigaTrust solution work quickly because test takers would not accept a long delay which could impact test results.

GigaTrusts enterprise solution for web servers is available today to protect database solutions such as NOCTI, web server solutions, SharePoint portals, and other content management systems that are accessed through a web browser. Enterprises looking to set up extranets, enforce information policies, or comply with government regulations should contact sales@gigatrust.com for pricing and details.
