Along the way he extensively researched the many facets of MUTEs content, from BSE and other prion diseases to little-known intricacies of veterinary medicine, even interviewing real-life cattle mutilation investigators and observing first-hand autopsies being performed by pathologists.

Born in Edmonton, Canada in 1969, Brad Steel is a veteran entrepreneur, former magazine publisher, and journalist. Immediately after graduating from journalism college-in the hope of evading small-town newspaper jobs-Brad and two former classmates launched their own satire publication. Over the following year, though the project evolved from a free local tabloid to a paid magazine with province-wide distribution, it never made a cent. To survive, Brad moonlighted at a city hospital photographing unusual" medical cases and procedures in the O.R. and morgue.

Then in 1993, Brad founded an advertising business-which he continues to run today.
