Web Certain is to pay for 10 student memberships of the newly formed Search Marketing Association  UK (SMA-UK) to encourage new blood coming into the industry to get the best possible start to their careers.
The student membership normally costs £75  and Web Certain will pay the memberships for the first 10 applicants who meet the criteria for membership which are principally that the student can demonstrate an interest in the search marketing industry and isnÂt yet in full-time employment in search marketing.
Students should email firstname.lastname@example.org simply giving their reasons for wanting to join the association and evidence that they meet the relevant criteria.
Web Certain managing director, Andy Atkins-Krüger who is currently the acting vice-Chairman said, ÂWe are keen to get the association off to an enthusiastic and positive start and whilst the quality of the current membership is outstanding with the leading names in the UKÂs search marketing industry predominantly participating, we want to be sure that the right seeds are sown for the future too.Â
ÂI also believe that the new people coming in often have a different perspective and energy about them and this step should hopefully make a very positive contribution for the association.Â
The Search Marketing Association UK was formed by a group of search marketers who gathered together on the 21st October, 2004 recognising that the industry needed its own association in the UK to push forward the development of the industry and to bring professionals together to develop the reputation of the industry and the people who work in it.
Elections are currently in progress and ballot papers will go to members after the 18th April to elect the first fully elected executive committee to take the association forwards.
Web Certain is a search marketing advertising agency based in York and specialising in travel and multilingual markets. Andy Atkins-Krüger was one of the original founding group of 10 of the association and has subsequently been working with Mikkel deMib Svendsen to help from the SMA-EU.
The other founders were Barry Lloyd of MakeMeTop who was the acting Chairman, Simon Collingridge of Netsposure acting Treasurer, Paddy Bolger of Top Pile, Richard Gregory of Latitude, Edward Cowell of Neutralize, Colin Irwin of Spex Internet, Jason Cartwright of GCDM, Ammon Johns of Propellernet and Mike Grehan of Smart Interactive.
