Alberto Culver Chairman Named as Working Mother of the Year

Carol Lavin Bernick, chairman of the Alberto-Culver Company (NYSE: ACV), has been named Â?National Working Mother of the YearÂ? by Moms In Business Network and the International Association of Working Mothers.

Carol Lavin Bernick, chairman of the Alberto-Culver Company (NYSE: ACV), has been named “National Working Mother of the Year” by Moms in Business Network and the International Association of Working Mothers.

Honoring women balancing career, family and motherhood and presented to a mother who is a leader in business, the arts and the community, the award will be presented to Mrs. Bernick on May 7, 2005 at the Create Your Dreams Gala at the new Wynn Resort in Las Vegas.

Mrs. Bernick is a 30-year veteran of the $2.9 billion company. Prior to being named chairman of the board, she held the company's top consumer products post, president of Alberto-Culver Consumer Products. In that position, she achieved national recognition for her team-building skills and the values-based cultural overhaul that she implemented in the company's consumer product business. A recognized strategist and marketing innovator, Mrs. Bernick and her team have led the company's consumer products unit.

Alberto-Culver Company manufactures, distributes and markets leading personal care products including Alberto VO5, St. Ives and TRESemme in the United States and internationally. Its Pro-Line International unit is the second largest producer in the world of products for the ethnic hair care market, and Sally Beauty Company is the world's number one marketer of professional beauty care products. The company also markets a wide range of category-leading products such as Mrs. Dash, Static Guard and Molly McButter in individual countries. The company celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2004.

Carol Bernick, is a successful businesswoman, a wife, a mother of three and a philanthropist, whose leadership ability is evident both at work and in the community. LULAC, the League of Latin American Citizens, was named the national Working Mother Advocate of the Year award recipient. This award honors an individual or company who has tirelessly supported and helped working mothers in overcoming their challenges and helping them achieve success.

MGMMirage was named recipient of the national Company of the Year award. This award honors a company that recognizes the needs of mothers and their families in their everyday business practices and in their consumer offerings, plus works to make the lives of working mothers easier.
