(PRWEB) April 10, 2005 -- TheBookInsider: Tell us a little about yourself.
Jay Toberman: I am a business graduate from the University of Minnesota. I've been in the corporate world for the past 20 years. However, I've always had a yen for adventure after a college buddy asked me when I was 22 years old if I wanted to go on a trip. When I asked him where, he said Montreal (1500 miles from Minneapolis). When I asked Don how we would get there and he said hitchhiking, that was the start of my adventures. Being in the corporate world or any job for that matter, you need to get away. I went where the phones would not find me.
TheBookInsider: Why did you write the book "Don't Quit Your Day Job: Adventures for the Working Stiff?"
Jay Toberman: I am a resource volunteer in schools where I talk on adventures. I also speak before groups on adventure travel and give travel tips. By writing a book about my adventures I feel I give myself more validity as a speaker on my subject.
TheBookInsider: You say that your philosophy is to live life as an adventure, not as an existence. Talk a little about this. How and when did you develop this philosophy?
Jay Toberman: Everybody at certain times in their lives look back and say to themselves, why didn't I do that when I was younger. A challenge is what they are missing. Something to have tested what they wish they could have done. That's where I came up with my philosophy of living life as an adventure, not as an existence. During my talks, I give them ideas of how to achieve a challenge and make them feel proud of themselves.
TheBookInsider: Why do you seek out adventures?
Jay Toberman: I seek out adventures to learn and challenge myself. Adventures keep me going. Though I am slowing down due to age, I can still do adventures though not as demanding.
