VertrueÂ?s Charitable Giveaway to Help Alleviate ConstituentsÂ? Healthcare Costs

Domus, a Stamford, Conn.-based nonprofit agency, will receive free discount prescription memberships for its constituents from Vertrue Incorporated (VTRU), a leading consumer services marketing company. The memberships provide up to 60 percent off prescription drugs at participating pharmacies for one year.

This is the second partnership that Stamford-based Vertrue has launched as part of its one million dollar giveaway of discount prescription memberships to charitable organization beneficiaries nationwide. The first partnership with Cornerstone Community School in Washington, D.C., was announced in March 2005.

Domus was founded in 1972 as a group home for boys. The community-based, nonprofit youth service agency has expanded over the years to provide hundreds of children and their families with an independent living program for older children, a juvenile justice center, a charter high school and middle school, a life skills counseling program, and a training institute for area parents and youth workers across Connecticut.

“Our families struggle with paying the many expenses involved with family healthcare. We are thankful that Vertrue’s giveaway program will alleviate some of these financial headaches,” said Mike Duggan, executive director of Domus.

“Vertrue is pleased to be helping such an important, worthy charity in its hometown headquarters of Stamford. This partnership with Domus will greatly benefit the youth and the families they serve, allowing them to save money for other important family needs,” said Sandy Malone, vice president of public affairs at Vertrue.

Vertrue launched a philanthropic program nationwide last month to help needy families by providing them with significant discounts on prescription drugs, vision care and other health services. Vertrue is giving away one million dollars worth of discount prescription memberships to charitable organization beneficiaries on a first come, first serve basis. The program memberships are not restricted by family income or type of medication. Prescription drugs are eligible for up to 60 percent off generic drug purchases and up to 20 percent off on brand-name prescription drug purchases through a network of more than 48,000 participating pharmacies. The membership also offers up to 50 percent off on eye exams, prescription lenses, frames and contacts at more than 8,000 participating vision centers, and also provides savings on vitamins and nutrition programs.

The membership card, which normally retails for $29.95, covers individuals or families with children under 23 years of age who reside in the household.
