USMDG is Calling All Nurses in Mexico" to Help Alleviate U.S. Nursing Shortage

US Market Development Group is helping recruit nurses to fulfill a critical need by turning to Mexico and an innovative program to expand the pipeline of opportunity.

AUSTIN, TX (PRWEB) April 13, 2005 -- US Market Development Group (USMDG) announces a new management-consulting contract to assist the South Texas Health System (STHS) recruit practicing nurses in Mexico to fill a critical need for trained, bi-lingual nursing professionals in its healthcare system.

STHS, working with Azarmehr & Associates-a law practice specializing in immigration-has tapped the USMDG network to expand their pilot program to encompass a broader region.

Its a wonderful feeling to help find a solution to the critical nursing shortage in this country," says USMDG managing partner Joe Garvey. Our strong relationships and past successes in Mexico will take our recruiting search to every major metropolitan area in the country. Well also leverage USMDG health industry experts to help guide the process so that our clients-South Texas Health System and Azarmehr & Associates-reap the greatest possible rewards from the program. As a business decision, this innovative pipeline approach to solve U.S. nursing shortages is far more efficient than relying solely on recruiting firms."

The pilot program is now under way in Monterrey, Mexico at the TEC (Tecnológico de Monterrey - Escuela de Medecina). STHS is offering qualified nursing recruits a 6-month Kaplan Test Prep learning program to prepare them for TOEFL and CGFNS exams in Mexico, and the NCLEX exam in Texas. In addition, they may qualify for tuition reimbursements, a US$800 monthly stipend to cover living expense prior to taking the necessary exams, free legal fees for work visas administered through Azarmehr & Associates, and job placement assistance though the STHS employment office.

The USMDG Nurse Recruiting Advisory Team includes Norman Levin, past director of HMO-Travelers Health Network (now United Healthcare).

Theres been a critical shortage of competent nurses in the U.S. for some time now, and the crisis has increased in recent years," says Levin. More hospitals are now considering filling positions with nurses from abroad."

Levin goes on to point out the twofold benefit in the project; that nurses in Mexico receive valuable training and are able to send money back home. For the United States, a critical nursing need is met so that the quality of care standard can continue to rise.

US Market Development Group continues the work of developing expansion opportunities for US companies in emerging markets begun by David Rockefeller and the International Executive Services Corps (IESC) in 1964.
