Blogs Provide Huge Traffic Boost

Mentions on several web logs (known as "blogs") have resulted in a significant increase in visitors to the www.GreatBigStuff.com website.

Middletown, DE (PRWEB) April 13, 2005 -- GreatBigStuff.com, a website that offers a product line of oversized versions of everyday objects, has been experiencing a huge increase in visitors coming to their site. Originally perplexed by the boost in traffic, Jeff Bruette, founder of Great Big Stuff, determined that blogs were the source.

Web logs, also known as "blogs", are very much likened to an online diary. However, blogs do not necessarily chronical a person's daily activities. Many blogs are maintained by individuals or groups as a means to share their thoughts, or as is the case for GreatBigStuff.com, products that they found to be worth telling others about. "The blog mention that drove traffic to us was from www.CollegeHumor.com" said Bruette. Traffic coming from their blog peaked at more than 30,000 visitors per day. "That's as many visitors as we may see in a month for this time of year." Bruette said.

The items that seem to be getting the most attention on the blogs are the giant computer key seats (www.GreatBigStuff.com/keystool.html) and the shotgun shell can holders (www.GreatBigStuff.com/shotgunshell.html). Once visitors reach the website, they become intrigued and tend to browse through the other items that are offered.

Although sales have increased overall, GreatBigStuff.com expects to see exponential results in the coming months. Bruette pointed out that "When more than one hundred-thousand people come to know your site and product exist, many will likely return, as well as tell others about you."

Alexa, a service that tracks web activity, shows that the current number of visitors that www.GreatBigStuff.com is reaching has increased by more than 125% when compared with the values from three month ago.

"This form of viral marketing is certainly going to be a big component of our future promotional campaigns." said Bruette.

Company History
The companys genesis dates back to 2001 when Bruette began selling larger-than-life pop-art décor items on eBay. What started as a hobby for Bruette soon became a full-time occupation. Recognizing this interest as a fantastic business opportunity, Bruette created an e-commerce website and Great Big Stuff was born. Today, the company offers more than 100 products and occupies 3,600 square feet of warehouse space. Sales revenue is expected to exceed one million dollars by the year 2006.
