Portland, OR (PRWEB) April 15, 2005 -- A graphic image in support of same-sex marriage, created by Jeff Fisher - the Engineer of Creative Identity for Jeff Fisher LogoMotives, - is included in the upcoming book The Design of Dissent." ( http://tinyurl.com/5jv5j ) The Design of Dissent," written by Milton Glaser and Mirko Ilic, will examine graphic work focusing on social and political concerns from around the globe. The publication, with a foreword by Tony Kushner, will be released by Rockport Publishers in late May.
After a public backlash to same-sex marriage licenses being issued in Multnomah County, Oregon. Fisher created the I Do!" image and distributed it via email for use by those supporting the legalization of same-sex marriage. Flyers, stickers, and buttons were produced and displayed in the windows of business and homes, on the bumpers of cars, and at public hearings on the topic. Similar items were also designed for campaigns in California, Massachusetts, New York, and New Mexico.
The I DO!" image is currently part of the Wedding Album Project exhibit that will become a permanent part of the Oregon Historical Society archives. The exhibit, sponsored by Multnomah County, is on display in the county administration building.
Jeff Fisher has received over 475 regional, national and international graphic design awards for his logo and corporate identity efforts. His work is featured in more than 70 publications on the design of logos, the business of graphic design, and small business marketing.
Fisher is a member of the HOW Magazine Editorial Advisory Board and is also on the 2005 HOW Design Conference Advisory Council. The designer often writes and speaks on topics related to the graphic design industry. His own book, "The Savvy Designer's Guide to Success: Ideas and tactics for a killer career," which is dedicated to his husband, was released by HOW Design Books in late 2004.
