As Eileen Parzek approached her 10th anniversary of home based business, she went online to find something to celebrate the home office lifestyle. Unable to find what she wanted to buy, she developed an online store selling fun "home office attire" and merchandise celebrating the rewards, hidden benefits, and humorous aspects of working at home.
Parzek, owner of marketing design firm SOHO It Goes, opted to use licensed, royalty free clipart that she could modify for her design concepts, to test the idea. She set up shop with CafePress.com and within a week, the store at HomeBizWear.com launched with dozens of designs and nearly a thousand products available for purchase. Café Press allows people to create merchandise with their own designs and Âprint on demand, providing a wide variety of high quality promotional products and a full ecommerce operation to the store creator, for a low monthly fee. Says Parzek, ÂIÂd already designed merchandise stores for clients using Café Press, and knew it was ideal for this kind of project.Â
Using the tagline ÂBecause you Can wear a t-shirt to work!, HomeBizWear.com includes merchandise for nearly every work at home industry, work at home moms and dads, those working with pets, environmentally friendly themes and a popular series about the dream home office. Parzek believes that with 53% of U.S. small businesses being home based (SBA, 2004) and the continual increase in telecommuting, there is a market for her newest venture. ÂThere is so much to celebrate about the home office lifestyle and the very fact that we Can work at home she said, Âso why not have a little fun with it?Â
