Challenges Center, the Fort Lauderdale area Center for Relapse Treatment and Prevention, has earned the first-ever certification from Terence T. Gorski and the CENAPS Corporation as a Â?Center of ExcellenceÂ? in Relapse Prevention.

The Challenges Treatment Center, nestled in a quiet suburb of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, specializes in solutions for difficult-to-treat addicts, alcoholics, dually diagnosed individuals with mental health and psychiatric issues and those with a history of chronic relapse.

Challenges' program model, combined with a high staff-to-client ratio, and its unique specialization in Relapse Prevention provides highly individualized attention to the needs of its clients and therefore provides a significant chance of success.

“Challenges is accredited by the Joint Commission of Healthcare Organizations,” says Dale Redlich, Challenges' Executive Director. “Challenges is state licensed by the state of Florida, but most importantly we are the first and only treatment center in the United States certified by Terence Gorski and his company CENAPS as a Relapse Prevention “Center of Excellence.” Terence Gorski is the most well recognized and preeminent authority on Relapse Prevention in this country.

Over the last 35 years, Gorski's CENAPS Corporation has been developing a specific treatment model for addiction relapse prevention and related mental health problems that incorporates a broad range of research based on biological, psychological and sociological research. “Based on our bio-psycho-social approach, we’ve put together a recovery model.” Gorski notes. “To become a 'Center of Excellence', Challenges had to go through a very detailed process of program assessment, program change and clinical staff training. I worked with them to create a model that would keep the strengths of the Challenges Relapse prevention program, integrating most effective science based practices of recovery and relapse prevention.”

What's important to note is that while this impressive certification will likely increase Challenges' notoriety as a successful treatment center, it won’t impact the personal, friendly and encouraging atmosphere of recovery that help its clients stay recovered for years afterward.

Clinical Director Ben Brafman sums up what the Challenges program means for its clientele: “Clients come in as they are, but leave the way they want to be.”
