Shazamm-designed Multimedia Project for ESPN Wins Big; Grand and Gold Mercury Awards go to ESPNs Retrospective Press CD-ROM for X Games

Multimedia design and software development firm Shazamm announced today a press kit designed for ESPNs X Games won 2004 Grand and Gold Mercury Awards in the CD-ROM category.

Providence, RI (PRWEB) April 15, 2005 -- (www.shazamm.net) Multimedia design and software development firm Shazamm announced today a press kit designed for ESPNs X Games won 2004 Grand and Gold Mercury Awards in the CD-ROM category.

The coveted annual awards were for a two-disc 10-year X Games retrospective Shazamm developed earlier this year.

The winners are considered by peers in the industry as the best in the world," said Reni L. Witt, Mercury Awards president and founder.

The two-disc set provides journalists with an overview of the history of the popular ESPN event. Disc one contains a document archive outlining the evolution of the X Games and extreme sports, the impact of the Games on popular culture, and more. Each document is also available as a downloadable PDF.

Disc two offers a photographic timeline of some of the most memorable moments in the 10 years of the X Games. Both discs also link viewers to ESPNs X Games media Web site ESPNeventmedia, which Shazamm also designed and developed and which has won praise from news media outlets and journalists worldwide.

What else can you say about an award for ESPN X Games work except were totally stoked," Shazamm President Dana Paul said. This was the perfect project for us, since I have worked with them since the beginning of the Extreme Games."

Headquartered here and with offices in New York, the innovative design and software firm counts American Express, Disney, Sports Illustrated, MGM Studios, and Hasbro among its blue chip media and corporate clients.

Shazamm has covered the X Games and other events for ESPN since 1999, developing and managing ESPNeventmedia (www.ESPNeventmedia.com), and a team of photographers. The site gives the media immediate access to event information, such as photos and results, both during events as well as throughout the year. ESPNeventmedia was built using ZMedia, Shazamms proprietary asset management platform. In addition to providing information during events, the site provides ESPN with an easy-to-use, robust registration system for the media who cover the events.

This year, more than 800 entries were received from 16 countries including Austria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peoples Republic of China, Russia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

To be selected by some of the worlds best communications specialists as the top work in public relations is a real honor, especially considering the hundreds of other fine agencies, corporations and non-profit organizations eligible for the awards," according to Witt.
