Campus Conservatives to Display One-Ton Ten Commandments/Bill of Rights" Monument At UNC-Greensboro

The University of North Carolina - Greensboro's College Republicans are kicking off their second-annual Moral's Week with something never before seen on the campus of a public university: a one-ton granite monument displaying the Bill of Rights and Ten Commandments.

Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) April 16, 2005 -- The UNC-Greensboro Conservative Union in conjunction with the UNCG College Republicans is preparing to display a one-ton Ten Commandments/Bill of Rights" monument from April 18-22 in the Rotunda of the Elliott University Center.

We are bringing this monument to the UNCG campus to protest efforts of our colleagues on the Left to remove God from the public square, especially the lawsuit currently before the United States Supreme Court that seeks to prohibit any display of the Ten Commandments in our public buildings," said Conservative Union President John Rouse.

This display is an effort to add to the diversity of our school at a time when Americas colleges and universities promote the values of every cultural and ideological group except those of traditional America," said UNCG College Republicans Vice President Matt Modrow.

The unveiling of the monument will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 18th, officially kicking off the UNCG College Republicans second annual Morals Week.

The weeks activities will include informing UNCG students on alternatives to abortion, covering the UNCG campus with yellow ribbons to show support for soldiers protecting our freedom, and hosting of a military recruiter to counter recent efforts by faculty councils and protestors at some universities to bar recruiters from their campuses.

Events will include lectures by UNC-Wilmington Professor and Townhall.com columnist Mike S. Adams on academic freedom, as well as Professor Daniel Klein from Santa Clara University who will discuss findings on ideological tendencies of college faculty.

Monday: Morals Week Kickoff; Equality Day
Tuesday: Support Our Troops Day
Wednesday: Pro-Life Day
Thursday: First Amendment Day
