Bharosa, Inc., the First Web-based Solution to Offer Comprehensive Protection against Online Identity Theft Announces First Round Funding and Initial Customers

Bharosa v.Crypt users manipulate images to create and send data in specific ways known only to the user and their institution offering superior protection against the rising risks of Phishing, Trojan and Proxy-based attacks.

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) April 18, 2005 -- Bharosa, a Silicon Valley provider of Web-based security solutions to combat identity theft, today announced the closing of its first round of funding. This follows the successful launch earlier this year of Bharosas v.Crypt Authenticator and Tracker products, the first solutions to offer comprehensive protection against online identity theft without the use of any hardware or software downloads. The company also announced initial customers in the Health Care, Financial Services, Defense and eCommerce markets including University of California San Francisco (UCSF), Ebb Services, Integral Business Solutions, and Agistix Inc.

The increased funding will enable Bharosa to expand both its product development and distribution to meet growing demand for the companys solutions. Several national and international banks, health care institutions and e-Commerce providers are already testing the companys products and many others have approached the start-up prompting it to raise an undisclosed amount of institutional and angel funding for growth.

Bharosa is the only solution that addresses the weaknesses that have foiled other competing solutions: how to communicate a password using images in a way a virtual spy can watch but still cannot understand. Bharosas patent-pending suite of graphical Web interfaces can be used to enter and transmit a password in a way no Trojan or Spyware program, Phisher forging a real site, compromised network or onlooker can easily interpret. No matter how secure a business is, it is still vulnerable to attack at the point between the user and the users computer, before that user hits submit and sends his data over an encrypted network. Thats precisely where most identity theft takes place." said Bharosa CEO Jon Fisher.

Several recent studies recommend businesses choose Web-based solutions over those that require hardware, software or devices for the end user. "Every bank I talk to doesn't want to hand out tokens," Gartner analyst Avivah Litan said. "They're too expensive."
