Classic Rock Band Walrus to Perform at Bellingham Benefit April 19
Bellingham’s rockin’ sea mammals, the Walrus, will play a rare acoustic set at the Wild Buffalo House of Music Tuesday, April 19. The concert is a benefit for the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center.
Bellingham, WA (PRWEB) April 16, 2005 -- The Walrus, one of the Northwest’s favorite classic rock bands, will perform an acoustic set at Wild Buffalo House of Music April 19 in a concert benefiting the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center.
The five talented musicians in The Walrus (http://www.tusktusk.com) have been energizing clubs, parties, weddings, and outdoor events in western Washington since 1995.
The April 19 benefit show at the Wild Buffalo, 208 W. Holly St., Bellingham, starts at 8 pm. and will feature two other bands: Betty Be Bad, playing "world folk funk," and the funk band, Dime Store Hood. The Walrus is scheduled to play at about 9 pm.
The suggested donation is $10, and all proceeds go to the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center, an organization that promotes understanding, tolerance, and healing in the community. The Center (http://www.whatcomdrc.org/) provides mediation services and conflict resolution training for individuals and organizations and has specific programs supporting youth and families.
The concert marks the first time the Walrus has played an acoustic show since the band opened for Leon Russell at the Wild Buffalo last September.
Bellingham’s rockin’ sea mammals include five seasoned professionals, Jamie Shea, Chuck Dingee, Joe Young, Michael O’Neal and Walt Burkett. Because they all sing, the Walrus can perform songs most cover bands would never think of even trying live, such as Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." The band’s vocally rich and intricate arrangements include songs by the Beatles, the Eagles, Sheryl Crow, Manhattan Transfer, Roy Orbison, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, the Hollies and Crosby Stills Nash and Young.
For this acoustic concert, however, the Walrus will perform mostly original songs from an upcoming CD.
The next full-blown Walrus show will be Saturday, April 30, at the Fairhaven Pub & Martini Bar, Harris Ave. in Bellingham. For more information about future Walrus concerts, go to http://www.tusktusk.com.
