Boris Graffiti To Be Included with Software-only Version of Media 100 Advanced Vector Titling Solution Integrates with New Media 100 NLE

Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film, today announced that Graffiti 4.0 will be bundled with Media 100 sw, a software-only version of the companys Media 100 HD editing system.

(PRWEB) April 18, 2005 -- NAB 2005, Las Vegas, NV (Booth SL 4045) - Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film, today announced that Graffiti 4.0 will be bundled with Media 100 sw, a software-only version of the companys Media 100 HD editing system. Boris Graffiti provides integrated broadcast-quality 2D and 3D titling features directly inside nonlinear editing systems. Media 100 sw will be available as public beta software on CD-ROMs distributed exclusively at the Optibase booth (#SL343) at NAB 2005.

Graffiti lets you animate 2D and 3D titles over your timeline video without importing and exporting. Easily create sophisticated extruded text and shapes with bump maps, reflections and textures as well as animatable 2D and 3D charts. Advanced options include jitter, randomization, text on a path and type-on animation. An expansive Style Palette and Library Browser with hundreds of presets streamlines title creation.

"Boris Graffiti dramatically expands the titling possibilities of Media 100 sw," says Boris FX founder and president Boris Yamnitsky. "The combination of Graffiti and Media 100 sw brings the ease of use of these two popular interfaces to an expanded range of markets. Media 100 customers have the highest expectations for innovative, user friendly titling tools, which is what theyll find with the Boris Graffiti."

The public beta version will play and render all codecs and media formats currently supported by Media 100 HD. Although the public beta software does not include capture or output capabilities, media captured by Media 100i or Media 100 HD products can be used for editing and export. Users can also open sequences created by the Media 100 sw version on Media 100 HD systems. When the corresponding media is attached, they can then output to tape with complete accuracy.

"Media 100 sw provides a cost-effective companion to customers using existing Media 100i and Media 100 HD systems. The lower cost of the Media 100 sw and the future development to handle HDV and DV through Firewire provide editing tools that can be quickly adopted," said Steve Bayes, Director of Product Marketing, Media 100/Optibase. "The software will also benefit existing Media 100 customers who want to add an inexpensive editing or review-and-approval station using Media 100 sw on a laptop or a basic G5."

Media 100 sw will open any program created on Media 100i, export material as a QuickTime movie and output via a Media 100i system to tape. All existing import and export workflows, including sending to third party compressors for MPEG2 for DVD or MPEG4 for web, will continue to work as they do with the current shipping Media 100 products.

Boris Graffiti and other Boris solutions will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasting Convention (NAB) 2005 in booth SL4045 in the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 18-21, 2005. Boris solutions will also be shown in the Optibase booth SL343, where the Media 100 sw public beta software will be exclusively available on CD-ROM. The CD will include a link for downloading the public beta product, as well as a range of helpful reference documents and files. The public beta will time out after 90 days, but new versions are expected to be available during development. A productized version of Media 100 sw, with Firewire deck control and I/O, is expected in 2005.
