Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film production, today announced that a new version of Continuum Complete AVX (BCC AVX) will premiere at NAB running on the new AVX 2.0 architecture. Avid Visual Extensions (AVX) is Avids effects plug-in architecture. AVX plug-ins dynamically extend the visual effects supported by Avid® applications.

(PRWEB) April 18, 2005 -- NAB 2005, Las Vegas, NV (Booth SL 4045) - Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film production, today announced that a new version of Continuum Complete AVX (BCC AVX) will premiere at NAB running on the new AVX 2.0 architecture. Avid Visual Extensions (AVX) is Avids effects plug-in architecture. AVX plug-ins dynamically extend the visual effects supported by Avid® applications.

BCC AVX is a comprehensive suite of native plug-in filters and transitions designed to streamline workflow for Avid editors. BCC AVX filters are applied and animated directly in the Avid Effect Editor window. More than 160 sophisticated filters include Lens Flare, Glint, Glare, DeGrain, Match Grain, DeNoise, DeInterlace, Optical Flow, Motion Blur, Glow, Wire Remover, and Witness Protection. A subset of the filters preview in real time on Avid systems with supported hardware. BCC AVX is bundled with all Avid Media Composer® Adrenaline systems.

"Were very excited about the release of BCC AVX 4.0," said Boris FX founder and president Boris Yamnitsky. "The new AVX 2.0 architecture will allow us to add significant new features to BCC AVXs already robust integration."

With the release of AVX 2.0 and BCC AVX 4.0, users will have access to Avids advanced keyframing model. Instead of being limited to 8-bit color depth, the filters will offer 16-bit processing. The PixelChooser option that lets users create an animatable vector-based mask will include bézier handles for more precise control. A new Motion key feature isolates and removes foreground objects based on motion estimation. New filters will be added including Image Stabilization and Corner Pinning.

"Avid offers the industrys most powerful plug-in architecture in AVX 2.0. Were excited by its improvements, offering an extended range of possibilities to developers, including, among many others, deeper colorspace and advanced keyframing," said Ken Miles, Avids director of Third-Party Programs. "Avid customers benefit from the combination of the richest core nonlinear editing toolset and the products of the AVX developer community."

Since the AVX 2.0 architecture will initially support only Windows systems, version 4.0 will be a Windows-only release for this architecture. Support for Macintosh and Windows systems running AVX 1.5 will be added in Q3 2005. A future version will support Macintosh systems on AVX 2.0.

Continuum Complete AVX offers powerful integration features including built-in motion tracking, the ability to apply multiple filters to keyed elements or titles without affecting the background. Hundreds of presets and integrated online help provide fast and precise effects creation with a minimal learning curve. When paired with multi-processor and OpenGL acceleration, Continuum Complete AVX 4.0 provides a powerful and complimentary feature set for Avid editing systems.

Boris Continuum Complete AVX and other Boris solutions will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasting Convention (NAB) 2005 in booth SL4045 in the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 18-21, 2005. Boris solutions will also be shown in the Avid Developer Community booth SL1210A.
