2005 Backspace Writers Conference

The 2005 Backspace Writers Conference brings together best-selling authors, top agents, and editors for an afternoon of panel discussions and socializing in the heart of the publishing world at the same time as one of publishings major events: Book Expo America. Serious writers in all genres are invited to come meet the people who can make a difference in their writing career apart from the BEA crowds in a relaxed, intimate atmosphere (attendance is limited, but space is still available).

(PRWEB) April 18, 2005 -- Backspace, a large Internet-based writers organization comprised of 323 members in 15 countries, is predicated on the idea of writers helping writers, which we accomplish by means of discussion forums, a guest speaker program in which agents, acquisitions editors, and best-selling authors regularly conduct online question and answer sessions with the group, and advice and how-to articles from publishing experts on our homepages. Backspace has attracted the participation and/or support of publishing professionals such as Richard Curtis, Dan Lazar, Jenny Bent, Jeff Kleinman, Lee Child, Jeffery Deaver, Neil Gaiman, Jennifer Weiner, Barry Eisler, Robert Crais, Chris Bohjalian, Stephen Elliot, and many more.

This June, Backspace is sponsoring our first non-Internet event, the 2005 Backspace Writers Conference to be held on June 2 from 1 - 6 p.m. at the Park South Hotel (122 E. 28th Street) in New York City.

Literary agent and long-time author advocate Richard Curtis is the keynote speaker.

Panelists include best-selling authors David Morrell, Barry Eisler, and Lee Child; several Backspace authors; crime blogger Sarah Weinman; literary agents Kristin Nelson, Jeff Kleinman, and Anne Hawkins; acquisitions editors Natasha Graf of McGraw-Hill and Leona Nevler of Penguin Putnam, and publicist Susan Schwartzman. Attendees include agents Dan Lazar, Miriam Goderich, Jane Dystel, Michelle Wolfson, and Stacy Boyd of Harlequin/Silhouette.

An awards banquet will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the hotel restaurant.

Details regarding the program and registration can be found at the conference website: www.backspacewritersconference.com Questions can be addressed to Karen Dionne.
