When faced with leaving her home of 30 years, J. Maloney was immobilized by anxiety and indecision. Yet with the spunk and fortitude of a generation that doesnÂt give-up or give-in, Maloney took control. Politely but firmly she ignored the advice of her well-meaning children, bought a notebook and took charge of her life.
In this notebook she organized the big issues and small details of the move. And she jotted down solutions to problems and decisions made so she ÂwouldnÂt forgetÂ. When Maloney was happily settled in her new apartment, she looked at the notebook and realized she had compiled many suggestions that would help other Seniors facing a similar move.
According to The Department of Health and Human Services report, Older Americans 2000, we have a nation of Seniors about to face this experience. The report describes a Âlongevity revolution as the 65-and-over population more than doubles by 2030 while enjoying an ever-increasing life expectancy.
Here are three tips from the booklet:
These tips and more are included in Senior Downsizing-Tips For Seniors Moving To Smaller Quarters. Anyone contemplating such a move but feeling emotionally or physically overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task will benefit from this booklet.
Senior Downsizing is available as a free ebooklet from Demery Publishing. To download a copy go to http://www.seniordownsize.com.
