New Military History Magazine Offers Travel Information

Recon is a new magazine that contains concise travel information for the military history enthusiast. Learn about the best military history sites, travel tips, hotels, food, shopping.

(PRWEB) April 20, 2005 -- With limited time, money and information, many travelers have a tough time deciding which military history sites to visit during their vacations.

To help the road-weary traveler, retired history professor Stephen Powers started his own military history travel publication called Recon. The new publication evaluates what are the essential military history sites, reasonably priced hotels and great food in the area. Recon also provides an historical snapshot--whether it is in Normandy or Fort Garland, Colo.

You are passing an old battlefield or military museum-Gettysburg, the Little Big Horn, or maybe the Imperial War Museums Duxford complex. You wonder if you should stop, wonder if it is worth the delay," says Powers. Should you have known something about the site before you left home? To this day, you still dont know. This is where Recon will prove invaluable to the military history enthusiast."

Recon, published bimonthly, also provides information on nonmilitary sites. This other information is for those in a family or group who do not share someones zeal for past battles, cemeteries and museums--our publication gives them other options," says Powers, who has authored a guidebook on World War II European battlefields called "The March to Victory."   

Recon features a main story about an epic military history event (the next issue features Pearl Harbor), museums, food and hotel reviews, book and movie reviews, and informative travel tips. We want to show people what is off-the-beaten-path. While we cover the biggies such as Normandy, we also tell people about interesting people and events that are not as well known," says Kevin Dennehy, Recons editor and publisher.
         
Powers says the problem with many guidebooks is that they are obsolete and become out-of-print quickly. However, Recon keeps its stories and travel information current for travelers.
