Worldwide Green Hotels Database for the Public

New website lets environmentally conscious travelers find "green" hotels. Users can submit new properties they find, and send in reviews.

(PRWEB) April 20, 2005 -- Sage Blossom Consulting, a sustainable hospitality consulting firm, has created the first all- inclusive database of green hotels from all over the world. Travelers can now find hotels with sustainable practices for their trips, focusing on the green issues that are most important to them.

A "green" hotel is defined at http//www.BestGreenHotels.com as a lodging property that makes at least one gesture toward environmental awareness and conservation. The more environmental steps that a hotel does, the higher its rating on the site. A "hotel" includes any lodging property including hotels, motels, lodges, resorts, guest or vacation houses, bed and breakfasts, vacation homes, and inns.

Kit Cassingham, principal of Sage Blossom Consulting, has several hopes for the site. "First, up to now there hasn't been just one site travelers could visit to find green hotels, so this site is providing a great public service," Cassingham says. "Second, travelers now have a tool for putting pressure on lodging properties to take more green actions and to promote those actions clearly on their websites. Third, as non-green hotels see the success of their green competition, they will create an environmental plan and start taking more sustainable action."

Hotels are notorious for waste, Cassingham says. According to Green Seal, an average 150-room hotel purchases more products and resources in one week than 100 families do in one year. Early reactions from the site are very popular, garnering raves from hospitality professionals and travelers alike.

"Best Green Hotels is a great resource for travelers who care about the environment," says hotel consultant Bill Hopping of Denver. "It is also a force of change for the lodging industry because it shows hotels that are listening and paying attention that there is a market and need for greener operations.". Bill Hopping, a hospitality appraiser with W.R. Hopping & Co., Inc, http://www.hoppingcompany.com/, is quoted.

"At last! A web site that allows the environmentally concerned traveler to find hotels that are also eco-friendly. BestGreenHotels.com fulfills a growing need for connecting Green travelers with like-minded hotels and resorts." says Maurice Robinson, an appraiser and mediator (Maurice Robinson & Associates LLC, http://www.MauriceRobinson.com)

Conservationists are also excited about the site. "Ecological management is not only beneficial to the planet but also to the bottom line." says Craig Murray of the Hamilton (Ontario, Canada) Conservation Authority, http://www.conservationhamilton.ca/. "With the growth of the eco-tourism market and the increased profitability of smaller locations that are more flexible in their thinking, it cannot be long until larger companies realize the benefits of changing their ways. Best Green Hotels will help them realize the need to change."

Jana L. Hesser of Quality Management Services, LLC,( http://www.qmsresults.com) comments, "The most comprehensive resource of green hotels available today is at Best Green Hotels. Finally there is 'one stop shopping' for those of us who choose to stay in environmentally friendly hotels! This easy-to-navigate site has all the information needed for each of us to make a personalized choice in selected the right hotel. I will recommend this website to my clients, colleagues, family and friends."

"The concept is really wonderful. Sage Blossom Consulting is to be commended for focusing on such an important segment of the hotel business. This site, Best Green Hotels, should benefit both the hotels, listed on the site, and the focus on ecological issues The spirit of this site is good and clearly serves those with green interests. It's easy to navigate, to find hotels of interest, and to book the hotel of choice." states Rick Swig, RSBA & Associates, http://www.rsbaswig.com .

Sage Blossom Consultings database of green hotels -- http://www.BestGreenHotels.com -- is filling a void that's long been needed for travelers and hoteliers alike. This site makes it easier to find a green hotel for your travels anywhere in the world.
