Whistler, BC (PRWEB) April 21, 2005 -- Tom Barratt Ltd. has won the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) Regional Citation Award by the CSLA Professional Awards Program. In partnership with the City of North Vancouver, Tom Barratt Ltd. was recently recognized for the Green Necklace Communications and 3D Modeling project.

The purpose of the CSLA Awards Program is to recognize and encourage excellence in all aspects of the profession, and to promote a strong awareness of landscape architecture as a profession amongst related professions, clients and the general public.

It is a great honour to have been recognized by the industrys most respected organization," says Tom Barratt, principal of Tom Barratt Ltd. Having our submission chosen initially by the City of North Vancouver, and then to be recognized again by the CSLA is testament to the professionalism and high quality and caliber of work that our firm produces."

The Green Necklace, a seven kilometer long multi-use trail and network of recreational and ecologically designed spaces, will form a continuous loop around the centre of the City of North Vancouver. The greenway will link important city parks, public spaces and natural habitats, providing safe, enhanced access for pedestrians, in-line skaters and cyclists alike. Tom Barratt and his team of local graphic artists, 3D animation experts, planner and writer, submitted the innovative Communications and 3D Modeling project. The multi-media, multi-disciplined plan was created to communicate the project to city residents, politicians, and stakeholders to assist in the understanding and potential of the Green Necklace to contribute to the vision of a sustainable community. Details about the project can be found at www.greennecklace.org.

Similar in scope to the Green Necklace, one of Barratts most celebrated projects was the successful implementation of Whistlers Valley Trail and park system for the Resort Municipality of Whistler in the early eighties. Today, the most successful recreational feature linking the valleys parks, beaches, neighborhoods and playgrounds to Whistler village, is admired and studied by municipalities throughout the country.

This years award marks the third year running that the CSLA has recognized Tom Barratt Ltd. In 2004, Tom Barratt Ltd. was awarded another Regional Citation Award for its work as part of the Whistler Village Enhancement project.
