Cafe Habana Launces First Solar Powered Restaurant in New York City

In an effort to promote environmental consciousness among NYC businesses, Habana Outpost is pioneering the use of solar panels as a primary energy source, and green products whenever possible (everything from eco-friendly detergents to environmental wood alternative wood benches).

(PRWEB) April 21, 2005 -- Cafe Habana is opening an outpost and new location on saturday, May 21, 2005 and run to Halloween from 12-8pm. Located at 755-757 Fulton Street in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, the Outpost will include indoor and outdoor spaces.

The launch of Habana Outpost: Brooklyn, a new venture by entrepreneur/restauranteur, Sean Meenan (owner of Nolitas Cafe Habana), the Outposts patented and famous grilled corn and other Cuban favorites, will be served to you from the Habana food truck. You have your choice to eat inside, or on the spacious patio. In an effort to promote environmental consciousness among NYC businesses, Habana Outpost is pioneering the use of solar panels as a primary energy source, and green products whenever possible. Everything from eco-friendly detergents to environmental wood alternative wood benches.

On the weekends a Designer Flea Market will happen in the Outdoor space adjacent to the restaurant. Vendor booths are available to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis, though spots are limited. The Market will feature everything from rare collectibles (records, vintage items, etc.), and clothing and accessories by new designers, to artwork, furniture, and bath & body products. The Market will cater to interests of all ages and backgrounds in an effort to maintain a true community environment, even offering a kids space with face-painting, coloring, knowledge about solar energy, and percussion instruction.

The restaurant and lounge will be open from 4pm-12am on Thursdays and Fridays and 12pm--12am on Saturdays and Sundays (closed Mon. Tues. & Wed.). Food and drinks will be served during these hours, and an outdoor movie will be shown every Sunday night at 8pm.

Outpost highlights will include guest DJs, outdoor movie screenings, carwashes, ice cream and lemonade stands. What else could you ask for on a summer day?
