Network Marketing veteran Ben Sturtevant, Chooses Lightyear Alliance

After deciding to leave a top position with an industry giant, Ben Sturtevant chooses a new up and coming leader in the MLM industry - Lightyear Alliance.

(PRWEB) April 21, 2005 -- After spending 6.5 years with industry leader Excel Communications (VarTec), Ben Sturtevant decided to join Lightyear Alliance. "I joined Excel in March of 1997 at the age of 19 because I wanted to build an income that would supplement my income once I finished with college," says Ben.

After 6.5 years and reaching one of Excel's top leadership levels and becoming a top 150 money earner in the world with Excel, Ben realized that his goals were not the same as the company's. "I was building my business attempting to create a residual-passive income. Excel had become a corporate company, about one thing only - corporate profits, they weren't concerned about the reps any longer." According to Ben in order to build a successful residual income a company must ensure that the average person is successful, in addition to the top 1% of the organization.

"If you think about it there are going to be far more people who we would consider 'average' - working 5 to 10 hours a week in their business, around their 50 hour a week job, people who have little or no money to invest in building their business, and people who have no experience in Network Marketing. What I found was that most companies, including Excel, design their plans to maximize the failure of the average person, therefore boosting corporate profits. This was unacceptable to me, so I decided to give up a full-time income with a very successful company to join Loghtyear Alliance (www.lyainc.com)."

Ben joined Lightyear because of its reps first philosophy. "I liked the fact that the compensation plan demanded the most successful people support the newest person, not just get them in. I looked at other companies such as Fortune Hi Tech Marketing (FHTM), ACN Inc, 5Linx, and others and they all had the same thing in common - great corporate companies but the focus of the plan was only on the 1%, not the 99%. I didn't want to recruit for the rest of my life, I wanted to build a passive income and the only way to do that is through the empowerment of other people. It's one thing to say that's what your company focuses on but it's another thing to require it."

That's exactly what Ben says that Lightyear Alliance focuses on. Their plan pays upline leaders not only to recruit personally but to build depth in their organization. "I love the fact that I, an SVP (Lightyear Alliance's top level) earn the same amount for personally recruiting someone as a brand new Manager. I also love the fact that I get paid to help my team produce, not just get people in. This plan truly requires the upline to support and develop people and that is the key to building a residual income - building people."

While Ben's decision to leave Excel at first seemed crazy to his Excel peers, it soon turned out to be the smartest business decision of his life. A year after Ben left Excel, Excel's parent company VarTec Telecom filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and dissolved all holdings of Excel Communications. "When Excel went under most reps took the easy route and joined similar companies like ACN and Fortune Hi Tech, mostly because the top leaders in Excel were given money to join these companies. I lost a lot of respect for people who I thought were genuine leaders in this industry, turns out all they cared about were themselves and their money."

"The most important part of the success we're having is not mine, it's the success of the people on our team. Our team, The Vision Team (www.visionteaminc.com) is comprised of the top leaders in Lightyear Alliance. Out of the top 25 income earners, 8 are a part of our team. That is what I'm most proud of."
