- Regulatory Filing for Four Innovative Drugs Anticipated Throughout 2006-2009..
Samaritan Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMEX:LIV - News), a developer of innovative drugs, announced today it highlighted four innovative drugs from its robust Research and Development (R&D) program, to key pharmaceutical business development executives at the BioSquare partnering conference in Lyon, France.
Samaritan reviewed its pipeline and gave an in-depth review of its emerging commercial candidate SP-01A, an oral entry inhibitor HIV drug, expected to commence its monotherapy clinical trial next month. Samaritan, in response to an FDA request, is conducting a 10-day monotherapy trial and, with strong patient enrollment, optimistically anticipates having completed data to submit to the FDA for review within four to six months.
Dr. Janet Greeson, CEO of Samaritan, stated, "Although we are aggressive and fast track everything we can, patient enrollment is out of our hands. All we can do is hope that the various sites recruit as fast as possible so, with positive data, we can move to PIII before the end of the year."
Our robust early development pipeline is significantly advanced in terms of its innovative content. Most importantly, our discovery and early development programs are meeting the ambitious expectations of submitting at least one or two new INDs per year to lay the groundwork of having numerous drugs in clinical development for many years to come.
Samaritan expects to file three new drug applications (INDs) for new drugs -- SP-10 for HIV, SP-233 for Alzheimer's and SP-04 for Alzheimer's -- by the end of 2005 and throughout 2006, contingent on respective promising toxicology studies.
Dr. Greeson went on to say, "Samaritan is ambitiously committed to applying for at least one to two new investigational new drugs (INDs) with the FDA per year -- a major undertaking when you consider a major pharmaceutical such as Wyeth is committed to apply for three new INDs per year."
Samaritan expects these drug programs to significantly contribute to its growth and financial performance in the coming years. Samaritan Pharmaceuticals: "A Cure Is Closer Than You Think." Samaritan, a small biopharmaceutical company, is committed to winning the race to approval for its life-saving affordable drugs. Samaritan, in collaboration with Georgetown University, is advancing its proprietary compounds for AIDS, Alzheimer's, Cancer and Cardiovascular disease.
