SureFire Introduces Power-Select Flashlight

(PRWEB) April 28, 2005 -- SureFire's new U2 Ultra(r) is a variable power flashlight with a high-brightness LED controlled by a microprocessor that allows the user to dial six different levels of light from 2 to 80 lumens.
Featuring an array of advanced electronics in what SureFire calls Power-Select technology, the Ultra(r) produces a very low output, long-lasting beam or a far-reaching, intense beam, all from a 5 watt LED. The user simply turns the power selector ring to six pre-set levels of light output, from dim to bright. The runtime on the Ultra varies depending on the amount of light selected. On its lowest 2 lumen setting, the Ultra runs for 40 hours.
"Sometimes a flashlight can be too bright and sometimes it's not bright enough. With SureFire's new Ultra, you can have just the right amount of light," said Paul Kim, SureFire vice president of engineering.
SureFire broke new ground with microprocessor controlled flashlights in 2003 with the introduction of the award-winning A2 Aviator. The A2 Aviator won the Shooting Industry "High Tech Product of the Year" in 2003.
The U2 Ultra is CNC machined from aerospace-grade aluminum and then hard-anodized to military specifications with a matte black finish. The light source is a four-diode 5 watt Luxeon LED, the best high-brightness LED available.
The Ultra carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $270 and is available through SureFire Authorized Dealers.
SureFire is the official flashlight of the NRA. The California-based company manufactures a wide array of weapon-mounted lights, illumination tools, Picatinny forends, laser sights, edged weapons and sound suppressors.
