ITtoolbox, the leading collaborative network for the IT market, has released the results of the 2005 ITtoolbox IP Telephony/VoIP Adoption and Deployment Survey. Designed to provide insight into IP telephony adoption plans and deployment strategies among businesses worldwide, the survey results confirm that IP telephony is becoming a practical solution for driving greater value from communications networks.

Participants for this online survey included IT and business professionals recruited directly from the global ITtoolbox network. Each participant fielded questions regarding IP telephony implementation plans and strategies, vendor selection, and the expected benefits of IP telephony adoption and deployment. The survey also determined the rate at which companies implement management solution packages with IP telephony deployment.

The survey results indicate that businesses are increasingly adopting IP telephony/VoIP to integrate voice and data communication environments. More than 43% of participants are currently implementing an IP telephony solution, with 49% of remaining participants planning to implement a trial period. In addition, more than 66% of participants stated that IP telephony implementation offers their company a competitive advantage. Other key findings include:

• 51% of participants cited lower infrastructure costs as the main deployment driver for the adoption of an IP telephony solution.

• Audio quality, performance, and costs were the top three criteria considered during the IP telephony evaluation process.

• Quality, reliability, and budget constraints were the top three concerns about IP telephony implementation.

"Through ITtoolbox surveys, professionals can gain immediate insight into the front line of IT projects," said George Krautzel, co-founder and president of ITtoolbox. "Results for this survey not only show recent trends in telephony implementations, but also what products are being installed and the drivers behind the participants' decisions."
