Lice Solutions, A non-profit agency, is offering free head checks during the month of May to ensure a safe and happy summer for children and their famlies.

Lice Solutions, a nonprofit head lice Awareness and Control Center" located in West Palm Beach, Fla., knows first hand how quickly head lice can escalate into a sever infestation. In the past three years theyve helped thousands of families throughout South Florida; through education and by offering safe and effective treatments. So why is it we only hear about head lice during school months? According to Ms. Shepherd its just a matter of looking. Head lice are a non seasonal parasite- they are always there- no matter what time of the year we look. The problem is most parents dont know what to look for and therefore the burden is left up to the schools. Thats why the general public assumes that infestations only occur during school months" she explained. One big problem we find is when a child leaves the school year already infested with head lice, it tends to go undetected all summer long. The summer months offer an excellent opportunity for the lice to multiple because no one is looking. By the time school starts back they not only have a sever infestation, but have also spread it to countless others over the summer months."

So how do you stop Head Lice from spoiling your summer? You check heads at the beginning of summer, before you have contact with new sources, and then periodically throughout summer." Katie explained. If your child attends a summer camp program, make sure they have a lice prevention policy in place" she added. Lice Solutions is doing their part in helping families keep safe.
