Powerful new features for budget and expense management

Today MarketingPilot Software LLC announced the availability of MarketingPilot Release 7. Release 7 adds powerful budget management features to the MarketingPilot marketing information system.

The Problem

Budgeting is a time consuming, tedious, complex and difficult activity: marketers must analyze and review historical data, compare budgets with actual expenses, and develop future projections. Errors have significant impact. To make matters worse, marketing budgets have to straddle two different worlds. On the one hand, the accounting world cares about expense accounts, departments, tax deductibility and amortization. On the other hand, marketers care about campaigns, jobs, products, events, brands, and media.

Spreadsheets have long been the tool of choice. While spreadsheets excel (no pun intended) during budget planning and forecasting, there are many issues associated with their use once budgets are developed:

-Spreadsheets require lots of maintenance to ensure that they are accurate. Spreadsheets tend to "break when formulas get modified or are deleted inadvertently.

-Spreadsheets are very error-prone and difficult to audit and check. It’s easy to make a data entry or calculation error.

-Spreadsheets can't be updated by multiple users at the same time

-Spreadsheets require constant data entry to keep them up-to-date.

The Solution

MarketingPilot provides a solution that makes budgeting easy, fast, and accurate:

• There are no formulas to update or spreadsheets to keep linked.

• Budget vs. actual information is always up-to-date.

• There is no transferring information in-and-out of modules or to-and-from other programs.

• All the expense and budget information is available on screen, automatically updated to enable better decision making.

• It was designed to enable many users to work with the same budgets and expenses at the same time.

• MarketingPilot can automatically shift from the marketing view of a budget - by project and activity - to the accounting view- by expense account.

With MarketingPilot R7 users can create true bottom-up and top-down budgets. MarketingPilot enables users to:
