Independent Magazine Wins Praise from Mainstream Media

Craft Revolution (http://www.craftrevolution.com) receives national media attention for promoting independent designers and crafters.

(PRWEB) May 2, 2005 -- Craft Revolution (http://www.craftrevolution.com), the new online magazine that features independent designers and crafters, is making waves by receiving praise from both the crafting community and the mainstream media.

Three days after its March 15th launch, Tammy Powley, editor of About.com's Jewelry Making Channel, referred to Craft Revolution as having "...lots of promise for jewelry makers and other independent artists".

The mainstream media took notice again on April 18th, when USAToday.com featured Craft Revolution as one of their Hot Sites for the day. The editors praised Craft Revolution as being a "...collection of well-written articles on a variety of subjects". This honor often goes to pop culture icons such as Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise, whose new movie shared the spotlight with the up-and-coming publication.

Crafters and designers aren't surprised by the attention that Craft Revolution is receiving. The men and women of the 'Indie Community' (a title patterned after the informal term for "independent") are embracing the opportunity to see their work receive national attention - and what an opportunity it has been! Says Vanessa Brady, owner of Gerbera Designs (http://www.gerberadesigns.com/), "I had an amazing response from my iPod covers being featured on [Craft Revolution! I'm up to my eyeballs in orders! What a great resource for indie shoppers and crafters alike!".

Kiona Wilson, owner of Lucky Accessories (http://www.luckyaccessories.com) says, "I am so excited about Craft Revolution! As the owner of a handcraft business, I know how difficult it can be to get true appreciation for our products due to the low cost, mass produced alternatives customers can find in large chain stores. I believe that by joining the [Craft Revolution, we can re-educate the people to see the true value of buying from so-called "do it yourself" businesses and supporting the independent crafting community."

Educating consumers has been the goal of Craft Revolution since its inception. Craft Revolution was founded by four independent businesswomen who share the desire to restore the awareness and appreciation of crafts in today's retail society by promoting them, and the talented people who create them, as high-value, desirable alternatives to the offerings of big-box stores.

The editors of Craft Revolution achieve this goal by producing an interactive, high-quality, educational website. Craft Revolution provides crafters and buyers with a means to connect through discussion, shared resources and common interest articles. By bringing craft professionals and buyers together, Craft Revolution is helping to create a well-informed, powerful community of shoppers who value the craftmanship of handmade goods.

Thanks to the overwhelming attention it is receiving from the independent business community and mainstream media, Craft Revolution is beginning to fulfill its mission to redefine the world of craft. What's next for Craft Revolution? Ask any of the editors and they'll reply with a smile, informing you that although they would love the opportunity to promote the Craft Revolution on Oprah, they would gladly settle for a chance to meet each other face-to-face.
