Nashville WAHMfest to Showcase Work at Home
May 14 event to feature 35+ companies that embrace moms (and dads) who stay home to raise children
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) May 3, 2005 -- Women struggling to balance the demands of work and family will be able to learn next month about dozens of opportunities that can make that effort more profitable and conducive to raising children.
The Nashville WAHMfest will feature more than 35 companies with products or services perfectly suited for "work at home moms" and dads. From kitchen and cooking utensils to legal services, cosmetics and jewelry, a wide array of products will be demonstrated live to show attendees the many flexible, alternative avenues to generating income for their families.
"I know from first-hand experience that being a mother is the proudest occupation in the world," says Shannon McGee, director of Nashville WAHMfest and a mother of two daughters ages four years and 4 months. "But I also understand that moms often need something for themselves and to know that they are contributing financially to their family's well-being. Nashville WAHMfest will help moms do exactly that."
More than half of all small businesses in the United States are based at home. An estimated 30 million people now earn their livings through telecommuting, and their ranks increase significantly each year.
Nashville WAHMfest will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2005, in the Valley Expo Center located at 2611 McGavock Pike, across from the Opryland Hotel. For more information, please visit www.wahmfest.org/tn/nashville/index.html.
WAHMfest is a seven-year-old organization founded in Northern Virginia by a "Jill of All Trades" who was committed to helping other working parents find ways to stay at home with their kids. A strong advocate of telecommuting and creating flexible positions to help mothers and fathers find balance in their lives, WAHMfest is now in more than 20 states.
