Under New Name Eastwood-Stein, Firm Begins National Court Reporting And Deposition Services From Seven U.S. Offices

Eastwood-Stein is the new name for a national court reporting and deposition services company that has provided services since the 1970s.

On October 25th the company headed by Elizabeth Eastwood and Steve Artstein completed its deposition services agency agreement with the human resources company Spherion.

Eastwood-Stein, with annual revenues currently exceeding $25 million, provides court reporting and deposition services from its Chicago headquarters and from offices in additional markets. To date, the company has established offices in Milwaukee, WI; DesPlaines, IL; Aurora, IL; Tupelo, MS, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine and San Diego, CA.

According to Eastwood, the privately held company is in discussions that will result in the establishment of offices in additional U.S.

cities. The company has formed a financial relationship with LaSalle Bank, Chicago.

Eastwood-Stein, which is able to provide law firm clients and other clients with court reporters assigned for the duration of a case,

routinely sends reporters on out-of-town assignments. The policy mirrors the preferences of lawyers, who wish to control the number of professional reporters familiar with confidential case details and wish to avoid a loss of case knowledge when a new reporter must become familiar with technical details.

``As Eastwood-Stein, we continue to have the multi-office, national presence that gives a client the option of consistent, dedicated attention from a reporter who very quickly becomes a case specialist,'' Eastwood said. ``For other matters, the client can draw on a team of reporters present in the various markets.''

The firm's court reporting and deposition services extend to video services, video tele-conferencing, provision of real-time text as testimony is taken, and provision of rough text review disks immediately after a deposition or trial so that lawyers have the ability to use material while preparing the next matter of a case. In addition to law firms and corporate legal departments, clients of Eastwood-Stein include university students whose impaired hearing makes normal note-taking difficult.

Through affiliate agencies, Eastwood-Stein provides clients with one-call, one-invoice access to additional services such as printing and copying, document retrieval, translation and interpretation, transcription services, and video trial presentations.

``Fortunately, the experienced associates who have joined Eastwood-Stein share the feeling Steve and I have about the provision of

services,'' Eastwood said. ``We can give our clients service anywhere in the world and, at the same time, we can give them the benefit of dealing with people in their own market.''

Eastwood-Stein's corporate office is located at 11 South LaSalle Street, Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60603, tel. 800-343-0733.
