Delay of the WEEE Directive Implementation In the UK

WEEE directive compliance and computer recycling London, UK.

(PRWEB) May 3, 2005 -- August 2005 should have seen the introduction of the WEEE directive; however it is being delayed due to practical problems that some manufacturers face. It is now expected to be implemented in January 2006. Under the new directive manufacturers are expected to take back some of the equipment that they sold. Corporations themselves are also responsible for ensuring that redundant IT equipment is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. For such companies it is possible to contact organizations that specialize in this area.

Maxitech.biz can provide a nationwide collection service from which smaller businesses can benefit. They also ensure that sensitive data is securely deleted and overwritten. Through the reuse of old equipment, it is estimated that businesses can recover up to 5% of their initial IT expenditure which may assist in covering their recycling costs. In addition, Maxitech's affiliations with local community centers and charities, helps disadvantaged youths and older citizens on a low income, acquire fundamental computing skills.

For further information regarding the WEEE directive and for a copy of Maxitech's computer and electronics recycling guide go to:
