With shoot-outs on Town Square, rodeos and stagecoaches, Cowboy Culture reclaims the boarded walkways of Jackson Hole, Wyoming in the 24th annual Old West Days, marking the unofficial beginning of summer in Jackson Hole. The schedule of events includes the kick off of Rodeo season, a Parade, Pony Rides and a Petting Zoo, an Old West Brew Festival and various arts and crafts exhibitions.
Teton Village will be the site of a new event on May 29th from 4-6 pm. The ÂGunslinger Gala,Â will feature nationally recognized gunslingers and marksmen demonstrating their skills and performing reenactments and Western skits. The Spirit Eagle Dancers, a Native American dance company, will perform traditional dances enhanced with explanations of their meanings and origins. ÂThis year the Gunslinger Gala enables businesses in Teton Village to participate in the festivities of the Old West Days, they are really excited about that,Â Emy DiGrappa, marketing director for the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce stated.
Following the Gunslinger Gala, acclaimed artist Tim Tanner will auction off his original Old West DaysÂ poster, ÂHeavenÂs Back Door,Â at the Mangy Moose Saloon at 6 pm, with proceeds benefiting future Old West Days.
Of course local businesses will be in full swing, with shopping, dining, whitewater rafting, scenic float trips, horseback riding and wildlife expeditions. Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks will be open, with May and June providing the best opportunities to see baby bison, elk, deer, moose, bear cubs and wolf puppies.
