Interest rates on student loans are reset once a year based on the rate of 91-day Treasury bills. This rate is set at the U.S. Treasurys final May auction. Based on the increases that have occurred this year in the Treasury bill, experts fully expect student loan rates to rise. Those who consolidate their student loans before July can also potentially decrease their monthly payments by as much as 58%, making loan repayment more manageable.
