WA eCommerce Visual Recipes, a new multimedia training tool for Web developers, was announced today by WebAssist. With WA eCommerce Visual RecipesÂ? interactive training, complex tasks like implementing sophisticated online store features are much easier to master.

WebAssist has announced the release of an interactive training simulation designed to guide Web developers through sophisticated but essential eCommerce techniques. The new product, WA eCommerce Visual Recipes, consists of five multimedia simulations created with Macromedia Captivate. Each recipe guides the user through the process of implementing one of the most requested eCommerce features like sales tax, shipping and discounts. WebAssist expects this release to be the first in a series of Visual Recipes.

Unlike traditional multimedia learning aids, Visual Recipes are interactive. Throughout the experience, the user is shown the proper way to complete the technique and then given an opportunity to do it themselves; if they choose the wrong action, they are guided to the correct choice. Because the user actually performs the same steps in the simulation as in the actual implementation, complex techniques are easier to remember and understand. The guided nature of the recipes keeps the user on the right track while providing important information to place the instructions in context.

The Visual Recipes were developed in partnership with the Virtual Training Company, Inc. (VTC), a Virginia company recognized as an authority in multimedia training. “VTC is proud to partner with WebAssist to bring this innovative approach to multimedia training to the Web development community,” said Keith Provost, President of VTC, Inc. “These simulations flatten the learning curve for Web designers trying to master the formidable challenges in creating an online store.” According to Provost, the enhanced learning capabilities are due to “the muscle memory of actually performing the tasks within the recipe before applying the lessons learned.”

WA eCommerce Visual Recipes show Web designers and developers how to extend the capabilities of two other WebAssist products, WA eCart and WA eCommerce Suite. Specific code snippets referenced in the recipes are included, along with a complete printable PDF file. Sample files – both starting points and completed files –included with the purchase of WA eCart and WA eCommerce Suite are used throughout the recipes.

WA eCommerce Visual Recipes requires only a Flash-enabled browser for display and is available directly from WebAssist for $99.99. For volume sales or more information call WebAssist +1 (760) 633-4013, extension 2.
