Need Help Parenting? Call Your Nanny Coach

National Family Support Month in May is a time to recognize that we sometimes need help as a parent.

Disorderly dinners. Battles over bedtimes, homework and siblings. Potty training going down the toilet. It's enough to test any parent's sanity. But according to Michelle McGarity, parents don't have to face the challenges of raising a family alone.

"Parents today are so worn down by pressure - from the media, from their kids and from other parents - to be a certain type of parent. They think: 'What should I allow my kids to do when, down the street, they're doing this?'" McGarity says. "That's why May is National Family Support Month, a time when parents can feel more comfortable asking for the support they need. And one of the most effect ways to get help is through parent coaching, like the Nanny Coach."

Parent coaching fills a gap for parents who are looking for help with their problems, but who don't yet need to see a mental health professional such as a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Nanny Coach Services teach a new approach to parenting that shifts the focus back to the parents, and away from the kids. The result is a more peaceful and calm household, and a way to help children become the best they can be. McGarity, a Long Island native, developed the company because she made promise to herself, at the age of 8, to make a difference in children's lives.

"Parents have the most important job in the world, yet take on the challenges of parenthood with little training, few skills, and minimal guidance," said McGarity. "The traditions and child rearing approaches that may have worked for generations past no longer work in today's world of fast-paced change, pop culture influences, and expanding opportunities."

According to McGarity, what makes Nanny Coach services unique is that a parenting coach works one-on-one with parents to implement a family action plan by using her exclusive "5 Steps to Joyful Parenting" approach. "Generic parenting books, workshops, and talk shows fail to take into consideration each family's unique situation. That's where the Nanny Coach's personalized approach makes the difference," she said.

Nanny Coach offers several packages for families as well as the opportunity for families to customize their own package for their own needs. All packages include a family interview, observation and assessment, a family action plan and phone call follow-up.
