(PRWEB) May 9, 2005
Applesforhealth.com, a top health news and information website, announces the release of a newly updated website, http://www.applesforhealth.com.
The new website comes as a result of two months of market research, spearheaded by a survey of Applesforhealth.com readers. The research showed that the time and energy devoted to keeping the content current and adding new features had allowed the design of the site to become outdated and not worthy of the website's status as a growing force on the Internet. The update also marks the first significant design change since the websiteÂs inception in 1999.
The challenge Applesforhealth.com faced with updating the look of the site was making sure that the functionality of the site remained the same. In a 2-month long survey conducted with Applesforhealth.com readers, it was revealed that the two most important features of the website were the amount of free content present and the ease of a reader to be able to find the type of information he/she is looking for. With these results in hand, it was imperative that the usability of the website remain unchanged.
The feeling among the Applesforhealth.com staff was that the site needed to take on a more professional look to reflect its status as a top health news and information e-zine. Continued research showed that outside of its high level of traffic, the site was also being recognized by website analysis entities, like Ranking.com, as a ÂTop 5 website for health news and media resources and by Marketleap.com as a ÂContender on the web based on its 41,439 incoming links.
Also, as a result of the survey, Applesforhealth.com added the capability to view stories in a printer-friendly format and also the ability to forward a story on to a friend or colleague. In addition to story enhancements, Applesforhealth.com has also begun work on improving the functionality of the website for readers of various nationalities. The research showed that nearly 20% of the e-zine's readership is from other countries. Applesforhealth.com currently has a web translator that enables readers to view the site and its stories in different languages, but a new directive is in place to give readers the tools to view other websites in their native language. This is expected to open the Applesforhealth.com content and its links to an even larger international readership.
As a byproduct of the research and updated look of Applesforhealth.com, an advertising program was established to help offset the time and cost associated with running the site. When Applesforhealth.com was conceived in 1999, it was just a small website with a focus on delivering quality health information to visitors for free. Now, 6 years later, the concept remains the same. However, more time and effort is required to keep up with the 38,000 indexed pages and a growing readership. So as a measure to keep the content free to readers, an advertising program has been developed to allow businesses to take advantage of the monthly readership of over 200,000 visitors. In fact, Applesforhealth.com saw a record month in March 2005 with over 240,000 visitors.
Revenue developed as a result of advertising will help ensure that Applesforhealth.com can continue to bring visitors the latest in breaking health news from all over the world as well as a growing list of resources to find additional health related information.
