Meet Your Neighbors, Eat Some Ice Cream, and Dance with Children

Buckeye Elementary School is hosting its 3rd annual Ice Cream Social in an effort to raise funds for PTC, while helping to unite the community

Shingle Springs, CA (PRWEB) May 8, 2005 -- All too often we hear of how schools are cutting all of the fun stuff out of the curriculum. Well, local PTC members wont take it lying down.

Buckeye PTC (Parent Teacher Club) is comprised primarily of working moms who plan assemblies, field trips, and other fun learning experiences for our children. All of that planning comes at a price, but they arent relying on State funds to make it happen. By throwing fundraisers such as the Ice Cream Social on May 13th, they are able to raise the money needed for these projects.

With an attendance of over 500 last year, they were able to reach their goal of $10,000 which was used to help purchase new computers and to present one assembly each month during the school year. Their goal this year is $15,000, with plans to keep up the assembly program and make some school site improvements, including a Performing Arts Stage and more seating.

Kathleen McDavid, the Donations Coordinator, explains that they think this new goal will be helped to be reached by the generous donations from local businesses. Some of these donations will be offered at the event in a raffle and auction. Donations have been provided by Do-Able Garage Cabinets, 6 Flags, Golf Land, Sacramento Zoo, Sugar Bowl, Northstar, Donner, Lands End, Pottery Pieces, Millennium Sports Club, The Right Touch, EDH Sun Spa, The Gate, River Cats, A's, Papa Gianni's, Squeelers, In-N-Out, Hoosegow, Elephant Bar, Mikuni's, Red Robin, Snooks, Whitney Oaks Golf, Apple Mountain Golf, Bass Lake Golf, Bounceopolis, & ElDoradoGuide.com.

Children may not understand the value of a dollar, but they do understand Ice Cream and Music. Many local volunteers will be serving Ice Cream while The Crazy Chesters will perform live throughout the event, prompting parents to join their children on the dance floor.

So make sure to bring your children to Buckeye Elementary on May 13th from 5:30-8:30.
