FatPort and NetNearU Sign Roaming Agreement Significantly Expands Wi-Fi Network Coverage

FatPort, Canadas largest Wi-Fi provider, and NetNearU (NNU), a leading provider of private label OSS software, have signed an agreement enabling bilateral roaming.

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) May 10, 2005 -- College Station, TX -- FatPort, Canadas largest Wi-Fi provider, and NetNearU (NNU), a leading provider of private label OSS software, have signed an agreement enabling bilateral roaming.

Wi-Fi roaming is an important and developing aspect of the wireless industry. Offering roaming access defines a successful venture as it provides a greater incentive for customers to purchase monthly accounts while greatly increasing the number of hotspots available to them.

FatPort manages over 300 locations in Canada mainly in hotels, restaurants and convenience stores. NetNearU has over 130 partner networks operating over 1,000 locations world wide. One of NetNearUs largest partner networks in FatPorts region is BroadbandXpress which operates an expanding network of over 70 marinas throughout the Puget Sound / Georgia Strait waterways.

NetNearU is excited to partner with FatPort to extend Wi-Fi coverage throughout Canada for NNUs customers" according to Cody Catalena, NNUs President and Chief Operating Officer. Broadband Xpress is a prime example of an NNU partner leveraging NNUs OSS to manage roaming activity."

We are very pleased with the Fatport roaming. We have a growing Canadian customer base who now can access not only the marina market but a huge land-based network in Washington and now in BC and the rest of Canada with one account. Nobody can touch the huge footprint that we now offer our customers with this strategic expansion. We are absolutely delighted," states Kevin Keating, BroadBandXpress CEO.

FatPort is particularly pleased to be working with NetNearU as they significantly extend our network coverage worldwide," states FatPort CEO, Claudia NG. For example, our customers are now able to access marine locations through BroadbandXpress, which was previously a gap in our network coverage. Our customers expect to be able to access their accounts wherever they find Wi-Fi subscriber services, and with this agreement, were bringing that a big step closer."
