The CPL USA Regional Qualifiers will be held simultaneously in five regions across the United States on Saturday, June 4, 2005. The competitive video game qualifiers will feature two popular PC-based games - Valve's Half-Life: Counter Strike (v1.6) and Dreamcatcher's Painkiller (v1.61). Intel, PNY Technologies and Plantronics are the official sponsors of the regional tournaments.
Over 200 of the U.S. top gamers will compete for a coveted chance to earn a spot in the 2005 CyberathleteÂ® Extreme Summer Championships being held at the new Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas from July 6 to July 10.
Over $15,000 in product and prizes will be awarded to winning players. First-place winners will receive free admission and/or preferred tournament seeding at the Texas Championships in July. In addition, those Regional winners who will travel across the country to compete at the 2005 Cyberathlete Extreme Summer Championships in Grapevine, Texas will receive debit cards to help offset player travel expenses. Additional sponsor prizes will be awarded to other placing teams and players.
