10,000 Lakes Festival Confirms The Black Crowes, Additional Acts for July Event

Widespread Panic and Trey Anastasio of Phish to Headline Festival; 'Cosmic Break Competition Offers Festival Slots to Amateur Artists, Public Voting Underway on Festival Website

(PRWEB) May 12, 2005 -- The 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) is proud to announce additional artists to the lineup for the third annual event, scheduled for July 21-24 at the scenic Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. In addition to two nights of festival headliners Widespread Panic and former Phish guitarist/front man Trey Anastasio, the 10,000 Lakes Festival recently added:

Over the past two months, hundreds of independent bands have sent in music submissions for the 2005 10KLF Cosmic Break Competition to be one of three lucky bands to land a festival performance slot. Thirty bands have been selected out of the qualified entries and these finalists are now able to receive online votes from music fans at the 10KLF Cosmic Break Voting Booth at the festival website. The winners will be chosen based on the number of votes received in the online Voting Booth and the opinions of the festivals industry professionals.

Music fans are encouraged to help determine which three bands from the list below gets that 'Cosmic Break'. Vote online now at http://www.10klf.com/cosmic_break.php.

The Cosmic Break Voting Booth is now open for voting until June 10 at 8 PM Eastern Time. Visitors to the 10KLF.com website are encouraged to vote for the artist they most wish to see at the 10,000 Lakes Festival, noting that each email address may only vote once. http://www.10klf.com/cosmic_break.php

Within the Voting Booth, there is information on each band in the Cosmic Break with a short bio, link to the artist website, and one MP3 track for voters to listen to. The three Cosmic Break winners will be announced on June 15. The Cosmic Break Competition is presented by Jambase.com and Onlinegigs.com.

Cosmic Break winners and all other bands at 10KLF will perform on four stages, including the Barn Stage on a shady hill overlooking the concert bowl, the Field Stage where the audience can spread out and soak up some sun, the Saloon Stage for intimate concerts and late night jams, and the Main Stage where everyone gathers in the evening for the major concerts featuring Widespread Panic and Trey Anastasio.

The event ticket price includes all band performances and camping under the stars adjacent to the most beautiful outdoor concert venue in the nation. The 10,000 Lakes Festival held at the 600-acre Soo Pass Ranch in beautiful Northern Minnesota contains numerous campgrounds, built specifically for people to enjoy their camping experience in a spacious, friendly and comfortable setting.

Festival-goers can relax in beautiful Lake Sallie Campground with over 3,000 feet of shoreline or settle into the magnificent forest of the Northwoods campground. VIP Camping is located directly behind the Main Stage. The campgrounds are well groomed with permanent roads and real showers and are suitable for virtually any kind of camping vehicle. Every campground is within easy walking distance of the concert site.

Modern amenities on site include clean, permanent restrooms facilities with running water; additionally, internet access and a wide variety of high quality food and beverages will be available.

Continuing the festivals commitment to community, the 10,000 Lakes Festival is partnering with Conscious Alliance (http://www.consciousalliance.org), a non-profit group which organizes food drives nationally at concerts and music festivals to benefit impoverished Indian Reservations across the greater western United States. Festival patrons are encouraged to contribute non-perishable food items at the event. Those who donate 10 or more canned goods will receive a free, limited-edition 10,000 Lakes Festival poster. Collection bins will be located just outside the festival field entrance.

In addition to the canned food drive, the 10,000 Lakes Festival will contribute a portion of each ticket sold to benefit the Rex Foundation (http://www.rexfoundation.org), a non-profit, charitable organization established in 1983 by friends and members of the Grateful Dead. The Rex Foundation proactively provides extensive community support to creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, and education and has furnished over $7 million in grants to hundreds of organizations since 1984.
