Richnomd.com Announces New Editors and Business Writer

Colleen Curran has been named editor of Richmond.com, Richmond's premier online portal. The announcement was made by Richmond.com's President Barry Hodge. Curran has been with the leading online resource providing comprehensive information for the greater Richmond region for the past four years, most recently serving as associate editor.

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) May 13, 2005 -- "Colleen has been instrumental in developing Richmond.com's strong foundation and the success we currently enjoy. She understands the importance and ability of the online medium to deliver the most accurate and up-to-date information to our readers," commented Hodge. A Wisconsin native, Curran received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Fiction from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001. She completed her undergraduate work at New York University in 1998. As the associate editor at Richmond.com, Curran wrote such popular Richmond.com columns as "Weekend Pick" and "A Shot in the Dark."

Curran is also an accomplished contributing writer and author. Her writings have appeared in such notable publications as the literary anthology, The Dictionary of Failed Relationships: 26 Stories of Love Gone Wrong, the national monthly periodical Jane Magazine, and Richmond's own Richmond Magazine.

Replacing Curran in her former role of associate editor is Kate Bredimus. Bredimus joined Richmond.com in 2001 and began writing the Web site?s music column, "The Scene." In 2003, Bredimus was promoted to music editor. In her new role as associate editor, Bredimus will continue covering the Richmond arts and entertainment scene as well as the music beat. Before joining Richmond.com, Bredimus attended Virginia Tech where she graduated in 1999 with a degree in English.

To round out the current editorial staff, Richmond.com is pleased to announce the hiring of Matthew Philips, former reporter for Virginia Lawyers Weekly, as the new staff writer covering the Richmond Business community. Philips will be responsible for expanding the Richmond.com Business Channel content as well as writing the popular Top 15 List of Richmond companies.

Matthew joins Richmond.com from Virginia Lawyers Weekly where he served as assistant editor. Prior to Virginia Lawyers Weekly, Philips was editor of the Goochland Gazette and Central Virginia Gazette. Philips graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a B.A in History.
