Riders Cruise to Myrtle Beach for Annual Black Bike Fest

Memorial Day Weekend May 27th, 28th & 29th 2005

Myrtle Beach, SC (PRWEB) May 14, 2005 -- All Roads Lead to Myrtle Beach May 27-29, 2005

They are cruising in from everywhere...north, south, east and west, swarming to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina the way bees circle a hive. By the week of May 25, 2005, over 400,000 African-American sports enthusiasts will converge for the 25th annual Black Bike Week, culminating with the annual Black Bike Fest, held at the North Myrtle Beach Drag Strip Festival Grounds during Memorial Day Weekend.

This traditional Memorial Day activity, which falls the week following the annual Harley Bike Fest, has been steadily growing, as Myrtle Beach boasts the only African American drag strip in the area. According to Melvin Ware, CEO of The Bent Sombrero Inc, organizers of The Black Bike Fest, the bikers, who range in age from 21-49, show off their bikes, participate in contests and catch up with the latest trends in biking. Our intent is to promote leadership in the community," says Ware; as his partner Earl Chestnut, CEO of Organizational Solutions adds, hotels within a 20-mile radius of the venue have been sold out for weeks." Myrtle Beachs nearby attractions---golf courses, amusement rides, restaurants and beaches merely add to the events overall appeal.

For the first time ever, a drive-up" concert component has been added to the festival-like confab. May 27 through May 29, from 9 pm until midnight, approximately 50,000 attendees (bikers lined up front row center and without leaving their bikes) will nod their heads to the sounds of rap recording stars; Lil Scrappy, YoYo, Guerilla Black; reggae stars Tanto Metro & Devonte and Sugar Prince. R&B vocalist Lloyd is among various others who will perform on a 40 x 40 stage. MC for the performances will by actor Steve Turner from The Shield. Greeks" steppers from neighboring university fraternities from such fraternities as Phi Beta Sigma, Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi and Kappa Alpha Psi will also be there to strut their stuff!

In addition to concert performances, nightlife, after parties at nearby venues, refreshments, exhibits, carnival attractions, games and prizes, there will also be a spectacular fireworks display at the fairgrounds approximately 12:30am,, Monday May 30th, to close out the weekends festivities.
