Georgia's New Queen - Alisha Dawson - Miss Black Georgia USA Scholarship Pageant Winner - First Stop -Trumpet Awards Red Carpet

A trip down the Trumpet Award's Red Carpet and the first of many star powered events for Miss Black Georgia USA. Financial literacy and empowerment are the goals of the newly crowed Miss Black Georgia USA, Alisha K. Dawson.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 15, 2005 -- The audience was in nail-biting suspense up until the last moments of the Miss Black Georgia USA Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, April 23 at Oglethorpe University. The distinguished panel of judges that selected the new queen included Cee Cee Michaela, noted actress and singer; Kenadie Cobbins, Executive Director of Miss/Ms Black California USA and Reggie Lewis, Mr. International United American. Among a group of dynamic young women, her finesse, talent, and oratory prowess won Alisha K. Dawson the honor of representing African American women as Miss Black Georgia USA 2005.

Dawson is a junior at Fort Valley State University majoring in Business Management. . During her reign, the twenty-year old will champion financial literacy by educating and empowering African American youth to make sound financial decisions. Dawson is no stranger to influencing the community, her work as Miss Black Georgia USA will only be an extension of the work she has already began as an economics presenter for junior members of Clarkston First Baptist church and Vice President of Communication for Students in Free Enterprise (S.I.F.E) at Fort Valley State.

I am truly excited to be Miss Black Georgia USA 2005. This is an experience of a lifetime. I will take this position to move African American youth from majority spenders to majority investors," states Dawson. I am looking forward to using this title to educate, enlighten and empower African American women in Georgia."

As the new reigning queen of Georgia, Dawson barely had time to wipe away the tears of joy after receiving her crown before her presence was requested. Two days later she was in full queen regalia on the red carpet for the 2005 Trumpet Awards. Celebrities such as Matthew Knowles, Dick Gregory, Chris Tucker, Jesse Jackson, TD Jakes, Coretta Scott King, and Mayor Shirley Franklin were excited to be in the company of Dawson and celebrated her exceptional achievement as Miss Black Georgia USA 2005.
