County Supervisor who lead the effort to remove cross from LA County Seal endorses former President of ACLU for Mayor of Los Angeles. Community Advocate, leading petition drive to save LA County Seal, endorses Mayor Hahn, son of Supervisor who lead effort to adopt Original Seal
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 15, 2005 -- Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, was the foremost voice on the Board, in removing the cross from the Los Angeles Seal. He was also the key voice in not allowing the residents of Los Angeles County the opportunity to vote on the issue. Citing" segregated lunch counters", Supervisor Yaroslavsky was adamant in not allowing county residents to vote on the issue.
Supervisor Yaroslavsky has offically endorsed Antonio Villaraigosa for Mayor of Los Angeles. Antonio Villaraigosa was a fromer President of the ACLU.
It was the ACLU who threatened to sue the County unless it removed the Cross which had been on the seal since 1957.
David Hernandez is the leader of the current Petition drive to place the issue on the June 6, 2006 ballot. Mr. Hernandez has now officially endorsed Mayor Hahn for re-election. Mayor Hahn is the son of former Supervisor Kenneth Hahn who was instrumental in designing and adopting the seal.
Mayor Hahan who endorsed the petition drive on May 18, 2005 is joined in the effort to save the original LA County Seal by The American Legion, Supervisor Don Knabe, Pat Boone, Kevin Dobson, Dr. Phil Kurzner, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson and thousands of grassroots volunteers circulating the petition.
