Hunt and Hunt Ltd. has recently brought two more custom “G3” tubular laser machining centers on line and is in the process of building 2 more. These machines incorporate the latest laser machining technologies, designed for precision, high performance, rapid profile cutting of complex geometries, fast rotary indexing and heavy duty service.

These new laser machining centers are designed for volume laser machining of tubular stock with up to a 30ft x 6.25in diameter work piece capacity.

Many Industries demand machining methods capable of profiling complex geometries in tubular products without deformation, cold working or secondary processing.

Down-hole tools used in the Oil and Gas Industry have thin walled tubular housings and components that are ideal laser machining candidates. Perforating gun charge carriers for example, have thin walls that could be easily distorted by tool pressure using conventional machining methods.

We also have flatbed laser machining capabilities with a TRUMPF TRUMATIC L 4030. The L 4030 has a great mix of speed (up to 3,340 inches/min), versatility and precision, comes equipped with rapid changeover and setup features, and is compatible with advanced automation.

Operating on the principle of "flying optics", the cutting head moves over the stationary work-piece. The non-contact automatic height sensing system working in conjunction with the automatic laser beam focusing system virtually guarantee optimal results in any material type or thickness.
