IXEurope plc is pleased to announce the acquisition of German business continuity provider Gesellschaft für Informationstechnologie und Consulting mbH (GIC mbH) for an undisclosed cash sum. With offices and datacentres in Frankfurt-am-Main and Munich, GIC mbH provides business continuity services to financial and enterprise clients in the region. Clients include Merrill Lynch and AlpInvest, a €20 billion European private equity fund.

The integration of GIC’s expertise and client base under the IXEurope brand will represent a significant increase in business continuity capabilty, a service which IXEurope already provides as a white-label service to major outsourcers and to a small number of direct clients. Combining IXEurope’s best-in-class datacentre capabilities with GIC’s highly professional business continuity systems and skills provides an unrivalled breadth and depth of services and expertise in the provision of datacentre-based services specifically tailored for the enterprise and banking sector.

Guy Willner, CEO of IXEurope comments: “We are particularly pleased to have been able to acquire a company of GIC’s standing. In the past 5 years we have provided a number of business continuity solutions to our major outsourcing partners across Europe and have seen this as a natural adjunct to our core datacentre services strategy. We expect the GIC team to help us create a fuller BC offering across our four operating countries which we will continue to sell predominantly through our outsourcing partners”.

Jorg Rosengart, Managing Director of GIC mbH says: “Joining IXEurope is excellent news for our staff, clients and partners. With increasing level of operational regulation such as Basel II and Sarbanes-Oxley legislation clients are looking for more integrated solutions linking desktop recovery ever closer to core datacentre infrastructure recovery. We will now be able to deliver a broader and deeper offering than ever before, providing clients with best-in-class solutions across Germany, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom”.

Harro Beusker, Managing Directior of IXEurope Germany added: “We are looking forward to having Jorg and his team join us as a part of IXEurope. Their skills and resources will help us achieve our objective of being both the brand leader and the thought leader in our marketplace”.
